Open a Can of Worms Quilt

I saw this quilt made at my quilt shop and wanted one like it.  I have seen this pattern published many times under different names. The "Open a Can of Worms" book was published before Moda started naming cuts of fabric that we know now as "Jelly Rolls." 

 This is a fabric line called Madeira.  My camera doesn't show the color well.  It is much more vibrant than this.  It is a queen size quilt.  

The block is 2 four patches and 2 white squares with snowballs sewn to opposite corners.  The secondary pattern comes with how they are sewn together and arranged with their neighbors.

The quilting on the white.   I did all the quilting.  It took about a month to do.  I am pleased with how the quilting turned out.

The dark block were quilted alternately with this flower and curves.

 I made a pieced back out of the same fabric.  I had a lot of it.

Moda Love for Kyla

 

 This quilt was made for my granddaughter Kyla.  The pattern is Moda Love free from the Moda Fabric Company.

 I enjoyed the quilting.  I didn't realize how long it would take to quilt this border.  It took about 2 weeks on the border alone.

 My quilting wasn't perfect, but it turned out beautifully and I love it.

I won a blue ribbon at the fair.

Anita's Arrowhead August 2016

 I started this quilt at one of my quilt camps.  I quilted on it for very many quilt retreats before I got it done.  

 It will go into a pile of quilts for my grandchildren's wedding quilts.

It was machine quilted by Kathy Wolfe.

Grand Illusions Quilt

 This quilt was a Bonnie Hunter Mystery Quilt.  It was very hard to piece.  It took me about 2 months working really hard to get it pieced.  I think I have decided that I like quilting better than piecing.  The was a beautiful pattern and I enjoyed learning from making it.

It was quilted with a pantogram by Kathy Wolfe.  I won a blue ribbon at our fair.

Scott's Duncan Wildkat T-shirt Quilt

This quilt is made from all of Scott's high school t-shirts.  I promised to make it long ago.  He has been out of high school for 20 years now.  When I gave it to him his face lighted up and I could see his joy.  It made all my work so worth while.

Elk Quilt for Scott

I quilted this quilt for my daughter in law.  There is lots of quilting in the grass.  Scott didn't want much quilting in the sky.

Starlight, Starbright Quilt- My first commissioned quilt.

 This is my first commissioned quilt.  The customer picked the charm packs.  I picked the pattern -Starlight, Starbright.  

It was quilted on my Tiara, quilting machine.

I used my Line Tamer Ruler to quilt the straight lines.  It was simple quilting, but looked very nice.  The customer requested to have no label, so it doesn't have one.  I had left over fabric so I made two pillow cases to go with it.  I hope they like it.  It took me 6 weeks of my time to make it.  Next time I make a quilt on commission I plan to charge $.20 a square inch.  I have done my research and that is the going rate for a quilt like this.  This quilt had a "friend" discount on it.  

It's a Party Pink

This quilt was made at Quilting in the Country Retreat.  Simple, but fun.  It turned out to be a queen size quilt.
