Hillary's Quilt (Becky's Niece)

 Becky asked me to quilt this quilt for her niece.

Jigg's Quilt

 This is a quilt my family quilting group made for my mom's husband, Jiggs Pace.  We gave it to him at my mother's funeral luncheon, February 21, 2015.

 This is a beautiful quilt with beautiful colors.  My camera didn't get the correct colors.  I quilted this on my Tiara sit down quilting machine using a "line tamer" ruler.

 Jiggs and Jean - just like someone wrote on the chalk board when they were in high school.

The label says it all.  "Little One" was my mother's nick name.

This is Jiggs and mom this past summer.  She was so happy married to him.  They were a sweet couple.  They were high school sweet hearts and married after their spouses had both passed away.

Travis' Disappearing Nine Patch Christmas Quilt

My son, Travis, finished this quilt recently.  It was made from Christmas scraps from my stash.  The pattern is the Disappearing Nine Patch.

This is the quilting on the back.  Label soon to come.

Two Charm Packs and a Yard

This pattern is called Two Charm Packs and a Yard.  I made the pattern from scraps so it looks a little different.  The red and green should have been only one color which would have been the "yard."

I wanted to quilt is simply but also a little nice.  I added the flowers to fancy it up a bit.  Click on the photo to make it larger.

I quilted the names of the recepiants on the quilt itself.

Fabric line is Madeira.  Simple but nice.

"Tying up the Cowboy" Quilt

 I needed a gift quilt for the family who bought my son's FFA Steer at the fair.  They are a cowboy family.  This Quick Strippie Pattern from maryquilts.com is my "go to" quilt for gifts and charity. 

 I was learning to do swirls.

 I was also learning the quilting in the sashing.

 This is what the back looks like quilted.

 My embroidry label maker is out of town, so I made a label on my computer.

Dazzeling Diamonds Quilt

This is the first quilt I have entered in a competition that won a special ribbon.  It took the Special Merit Ribbon in our 2011 County Fair.  The judge told me that it was mostly for my quilting.  I also did the hardest piecing on this quilt than I have done on any other quilt.  Those diamonds are tough.  I don't plan to make another diamond quilt for a very long time.

You get a better idea of the colors in the sun light. Thanks to my dh for holding my quilt.

This is the view of the back. I used 10 inch scraps to piece together a back. I just tried to stay in the same color family.  I love this back.  The picture doesn't do it justice.

These flowers are what won me my ribbon.  Click on the photo to see a close up of the roses.  I used a tan thread.  I wish I had used a thread that showed up better, but I wasn't confident enough in my quilting.  I am also just learning to choose thread colors.

I was going to quilt flowers in the large daimonds, but my sister insisted that this quilt called for line quilting.  I am so glad I listened to her.  These lines make the quilt.

I actually finished this quilt in December of 2010.  I just never got it posted here.  I wanted to include it in this journal of my quilting.  I am so proud of this quilt.  I am also proud of the ribbon.  Thanks for stopping by to look at it.



Rose Charity Quilt

 My baby sister taught a class to our RS church group.  They asked for an easy charity quilt pattern.  As soon as she told me what she needed, I thought of this pattern from Mary Quilts.  Mary is so generous with her free quilt patterns.  My sister asked me to make a sample to show the group.  This is my sample.

 I did my own quilting.  This is a new pattern for me.  I got my inspiration from Patsy Thompson's free quilting patterns.  She has also been generous in sharing her designs.  I recommend them to all free motion quilters.

 As you can see, I am getting better.  I'm not perfect yet, but I am working on it.

You can see the quilting better from the back, although the front hides more mistakes. I am still proud of my efforts.  A charity quilt is a good time to be more adventurous and try new things.
I gave this quilt to a friend of mine, Brenda Reudas, who is a cancer survivor.

Busy Bee Quilt

My DIL asked me to make her baby's quilt from this fabric.  I started another quilt here, but didn't like it so I chose this pattern and made this quilt.  After both quilts were finished, she chose the other quilt.  I didn't care which quilt she chose.  I make them all with love and hope someone will love them someday.

This pattern is "Shake, Rattle and Roll" from Praire Sky Quilting. 

 This leaf and ribbon pattern turned out pretty good.  I am still an intermediate quilter, so it isn't perfect, but I liked my progress.

It is hard to see the flower quilted inside the large star. I still haven't learned to choose thread colors when free motion quilting. It is one of the things I need to work on.  I quilted in a gold thread and thought it would show up more.

I quilted swirls in the red pinwheels.

 I liked this straight line quilting on the outside borders.

 This is the leaf pattern you saw earlier.

 This yellow stripe goes the length of the quilt.  I mistakenly cut the backing to small so had to do a creative, artistic repair.

I named this quilt "Busy Bee Quilt," but I may change it when it gets chosen from my baby quilt stash for another grandbaby. I like that the red pinwheels stand out.  I hope it warms a sweet grandchild some day.
