"Sultry" Charm Bag

I saw a Charm Bag on the Internet and decided to make one. I had also watched a tutorial on how to make bags and one on how to make straps. The straps came out beautifully, but I needed more information than the tutorial gave me for the rest of the bag.

I started making the bag one day and then my son came home and said his Physics teacher had a nice charm bag and I should call her to get the answers to my questions. She is a quilter so I called her. She said her mother actually made the bag and she couldn't answer my questions. She gave me her mother's phone number in Texas. I called her and she was so helpful. Thank you, Mrs. Texas.

I had made some mistakes when I originally started the bag, but I continued making it. It wasn't worth ripping out. My next bag will be made with all the right techniques.

The charm squares are "Sultry" from Moda.

This is the back of the bag.

The straps are made from 6 charm squares each. I lined them with interfacing and did 4 rows of stitches on them. They look very professional. http://www.sewmamasew.com/blog2/?p=142

Here is a closeup of the quilting I did on the bag. I was practicing my machine quilting. Most of the prints are so busy you can't see the quilting, but that is OK since I was just practicing.

I love my new bag. What do you think?

Very nice! I've never had the nerve to make a bag, I don't know why, I don't seem to have a problem making stuffed animals. One is useless, the other is very useful.
Anyhow, I love your bag,
Cheers,
Dionne
