This is my Block of the Month that I am teaching for Steeple Rock Stitchers. When making this block you will end up with 16 additional half square triangles. By putting them together and adding a small border, you will end up with another quilt block.
The following are a few ideas on how you can arrange your half square triangles to make your second block.
The last picture is the block I chose to make with my extra half square triangles. I added a 2 inch strip all around the block using the background fabric. I think the background fabric will work best for this outside border.
